1. Review of the LAPERITIVO’s General Assembly
On 12 and 13 May, the consortium of the European LAPERITIVO project met in Leuven, Belgium for its fourth General Assembly and mid-term review meeting.
This meeting has marked the midpoint of the project. Thanks to the technical progress made by all our partners, we are well on the way to achieving our objectives:
2. Mid-term project results & Outlook
Overall objectives
- Power conversion efficiency targets
โฅ24% for 100 cmยฒ opaque modules
โฅ22% for 900 cmยฒ opaque modules
โฅ20% for 900 cmยฒ semi-transparent modules with >95% bifaciality - Achieve scalability to a potential 5 GW production capacity.
- Ensure : High stability / High manufacturability / Low cost / Low environmental impact
- Utilize solely industrially viable processing techniques.
The initial test results are very encouraging!
- Materials, processes and module architecture selected for upscaling.
- Perovskite solar modules with an active area of approximately 800 cm
achieved power conversion efficiencies exceeding 18%, using solely industry-compatible processing techniques. - The modules retained approximately 88% of their initial performance
after one year of outdoor testing in Crete, Greece.
Outlook
- Efforts will focus on the selected architecture, with improvements to
the perovskite coating over large areas to increase efficiency. - The project’s 2nd-generation modules will be tested outdoors and
their degradation pathways studied in detail. - A life-cycle assessment will be conducted and recycling routes explored.

From Lab to Market: A Key Perspective on Perovskite PV Commercialisation
We are pleased to share the new Perspective article published in Nature Reviews Clean Technology, co-authored by Anurag Krishna, Dr. Amit Kumar Harit, Zi Fan He, Yinghuan Kuang, Tamara Merckx, Aranzazu Aguirre and Tom Aernouts from EnergyVille / imec.
The article provides a timely and comprehensive analysis of the path forward for hashtag#perovskite hashtag#photovoltaics โ technology at the heart of LAPERITIVOโs research mission.
Titled โTaking perovskite photovoltaics from promise to productโ and published on 26 May 2026, this Perspective goes beyond laboratory performance to examine the full commercialisation pathway for perovskite and perovskiteโsilicon tandem PV technologies. It reframes the challenge as a multidimensional, product-centric evolution spanning materials, manufacturing processes, certification standards, policy, and market design.
Intersolar 2026
The LAPERITIVO project was represented at the Intersolar The smarter E Conference, on 23-25 June in Munich.
Presented at the stand of our communications and outreach partner, the Becquerel Institute, the project prompted a great many questions from visitors.
4. Upcoming events
The LAPERITIVO project team has actively participated in several major conferences, sharing our latest research and developments with the scientific community. We remain committed to staying engaged and will continue to present our work at upcoming events, ensuring our ongoing presence in key industry discussions and collaborations. Stay tuned for more updates!
